Lukashenko demanded to take into account the mistakes of mobilization in Russia
Belarus must take into account the mistakes of partial mobilization in Russia.
President Alexander Lukashenko stated this at a meeting with the Ministry of Defense of Belarus, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I warn the military, especially through you, the military registration and enlistment offices. As soon as mobilization was announced in Russia, we saw what shortcomings there were. Let’s not get into the essence of the issue - it’s up to the Russian Federation how to carry out mobilization. But when the summonses were sent out, some people were not there in Russia. Someone died, someone ran away, someone was sick, it’s unclear what kind, and so on. This is a lesson for us,” Lukashenko said.
He instructed the military to check those liable for military service in advance.
“Through the military registration and enlistment offices we have checked and will continue to check the military personnel, all those liable for military service who are in our reserves. It is necessary in every district without any hubbub, without noise. That's what I entrusted to you. When the harvesting campaign ends, we need to carefully call people in the area, check their availability and check all our materials, lists and documents at the military registration and enlistment offices,” Lukashenko said.
He also called for regular training of reservists.
“Yes, we mobilized in Russia, yes, we called people. But many of them have forgotten what weapons are. Therefore, we have constantly trained reservists, our territorial defense troops, and will continue to train them. Once again I want to emphasize my thesis: everyone who should and can hold a weapon in their hands in Belarus must be able to use it. At least basic. This applies to both women and men. They must master at least small arms in order to protect, God forbid, what happens, their family,” Lukashenko said.
He emphasized that the goal of the Belarusian army is to “defend its land.”
"All. We are not setting any other goals today. And we are preparing for war, because anything can happen. If they had not survived here in 2020, other armed forces would have stood near Smolensk. And where we would be, first of all you - people in uniform - we don’t have to look for the answer for long. It's clear where we would be. Therefore, study, study and study again. And, above all, learn military science in a real way. We have always had such slogans. So we will learn... We have checked and will continue to check! But this is not to direct them somewhere to kill someone. I'm not making excuses, but I want you to understand this. At the same time, if God forbid something happens, we will not flee abroad. We will defend our home and our land,” Lukashenko said.
