President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko congratulated the people of Lithuania on the “Day of Restoration of the Lithuanian State” - this is how state propaganda interprets the events of 1918 in the lands of the Russian Empire occupied by the Kaiser’s Germany.

“The history of peaceful coexistence of our peoples goes back several centuries. Belarusians have always respected the right of their neighbors to determine the path of independent development. Our good neighborliness has been preserved since ancient times thanks to public diplomacy, strong humanitarian and economic ties,” says Lukashenko’s congratulations, as quoted by the president’s official website.

Lukashenko noted that, despite all the contradictions, Minsk remains interested in further deepening contacts with Vilnius.

Let us recall that Lithuania is calling on Europe to boycott supplies of the Belarusian nuclear power plant, built according to a Russian project with Russian money. Yesterday, Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda said that it is “indecent” to buy electricity from the Belarusian nuclear power plant. Because, in his opinion, this station is “unsafe.”

Let us recall that in 1918, the “independent” Lithuanian new entity became part of the West’s project to create a “cordon sanitaire” around Soviet Russia in order to deprive it of access to the sea through the Baltic states.

Back in September 1917, Germany created a self-government body controlled by Berlin - the Lithuanian Council (Taribu) in the occupied territories of Lithuania.

In 1918, after the adoption of the “Declaration of Independence”, a German prince from the von Urach family, Wilhelm, was elected King of Lithuania.

Already in November 1918, the Lithuanian Provisional Government turned to the United States with a request to send American troops (!) to suppress Lithuanian supporters of Soviet power, who, after the outbreak of the revolution in Germany, began to actively create councils in Lithuania.

The United States limited itself to providing $17 million in “military aid” and advisers for the independent army. Supporters of Soviet power were suppressed. The Baltic states have become a springboard for Western intelligence services against Russia.

Lithuania, having received “independence” from Germany, very quickly became a pawn in the hands of the West on the great chessboard of rivalry with Russia, which continues to this day.
