Lukashenko warned Ukraine that it would be difficult to go back
Despite numerous promises about Ukraine’s withdrawal from the CIS, its flag is still present at the organization’s official events.
Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko stated this during a meeting with ex-President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the Belarusian leader, leaving the CIS is unprofitable for Ukraine.
“As you know, Ukraine actually announced its withdrawal, but this event has not yet officially occurred. And at the last summit in Dushanbe, the Ukrainian flag was present, as always. As I understand it, this is not a one-day process. Probably, it is not profitable for Ukraine to break all ties with our states individually and with the CIS as a whole. Therefore there will be some kind of process. You know my point of view. I have always said that it is easier to leave than to enter later, if necessary. But this is Ukraine’s sovereign business, we have to take it into account,” Lukashenko said.
Ранее "Reedus" noted that Ukraine has practically not participated in the work of the CIS over the past four years and refuses to pay membership fees, but the legal process of leaving the organization has not been formalized.
As PolitNavigator reported, the Ukrainian delegation present as an observer at official CIS events.
