Lukashenko forced young people to sing in Belarusian
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko today presented civil passports to 25 young men and women, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The head of state called on young people to think more often about self-identification and independence.
“Now it’s your turn to develop, glorify and definitely - in the future, and in the present, to protect Belarus. Perhaps you have not yet thought about such important and complex concepts as the self-identity of a nation or the independence of a state...
Patriotism is daily work for its benefit, the preservation of historical and cultural traditions, the protection of the interests of the state and the lives of people. All these are values that our ancestors had to defend with arms in hand,” Lukashenko is quoted as saying by his official website.
At the end of the ceremony, the young people sang the national anthem - in the Belarusian language. Lukashenko pretended that this was a surprise for him.
“Well done! I listened carefully as you sang the anthem. And then they say that we don’t know the Belarusian language. We know everything!” Lukashenko was picturesquely inspired.
Thank you!
