Lukashenko accepted Lithuania's challenge
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko ordered not to allow migrants who want to return from Lithuania into the country.
He stated this today at a meeting with security forces, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This week, Lithuanian Interior Minister Agne Bilotaite decided to turn around illegal migrants who entered from the territory of Belarus. Lithuanian border guards beat those who do not want to return, one Iraqi to death.
“The fact that they passed a law to shoot at migrants, beat, crush, poison – they are complete bastards, but this is their right. We should be concerned primarily with the last meters of our border. From today, no one should set foot on the territory of Belarus from the neighboring side, be it from the South or the West. Cover every meter of the border. It was not in vain that we invested enormous amounts of money in border troops and in our security forces in general. Our people should feel calm, they should know that there are men who are ready to protect them. God forbid, they begin to implement the tactic of expelling the people they invited there through official checkpoints. You know the consequences, and so do they. So let them think. We warned them, and let them think,” Lukashenko said.
Since May, the penetration of illegal migrants across the Belarusian-Lithuanian border has become more frequent. Minsk did not particularly hide the fact that this was an “asymmetric response” to Vilnius for the support of Belomaidan and fugitive oppositionists.
The number of flights to Minsk from Middle Eastern countries has increased sharply over the past month. On average, about 100 people entered Lithuanian territory. This week there was a qualitative change in the situation. The number of refugees crossing the border increased to 270 per day.
