Lukashenko called for eradicating the “cult of consumption” from Russian and Belarusian youth
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko devoted most of his address to the participants of the VII Forum of Regions of Russia and Belarus to the importance of preserving the memory of the Great Patriotic War and countering the falsification of history.
Only in this way, the Belarusian president believes, is it possible to raise worthy youth, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Our efforts will be in vain if we do not pass the baton of memory to the youth. Using the most modern technologies, they are trying to impose false values on the younger generation: the cult of consumption, individualism, social irresponsibility. This is alien to the traditions and worldview of our peoples, which are based on unity, cohesion and readiness to help each other,” Lukashenko said.
He recalled that today about 11 thousand Belarusians study at Russian universities and more than one and a half thousand Russians study in Belarus.
“But cooperation in the field of education needs to be developed even more actively within the framework of student exchanges, internships, forums and conferences, student teams,” Lukashenko said.
He also called for more attention to be paid to ensuring the information security of the Union State.
