Lukashenko told how he “set flags” with Putin
Belarus will not be part of Russia, said President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko at a meeting with Secretary of State of the Union State Grigory Rapota.
This was reported by the official website of the Belarusian president, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We have defined those boundaries, points, milestones, placed flags, as hunters say, beyond which we should not go. Something we cannot implement today. We answered the most important question, which, you know, was thrown up from all sides (I don’t know for what purpose): will Russia become part of Belarus or Belarus will become part of Russia or not. We replied that there is no need to do this today at all. Even talk about this topic. And Putin answered this question. And me even more so. There is no such need,” Lukashenko said.
He said that he agreed with the President of the Russian Federation “not to break” the Union Treaty.
“Because if we get involved in breaking the agreement, we will destroy everything that has been created during this time. This is firstly, and secondly, the agreement has not been fully implemented. It is relevant today. Therefore, the presidents decided that they should not touch the agreement, but simply need to develop documents and materials (we called it the Program of Action for the further integration of Belarus and Russia within the framework of the union agreement),” said the President of the Republic of Belarus.
Earlier, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said that the integration of Russia and Belarus will end when both countries change their national legislation “irreversibly”
