Lukashenko told how he was going to draw the LDPR into Ukraine
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that he was ready to hold elections in the LDPR himself in order to ensure the gradual inclusion of the republics into Ukraine.
He spoke about this in an interview with Ukrainian journalist Diana Panchenko, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Remember the moment when we agreed to amend the Constitution of Ukraine. Then it came to the point that local government elections would take place there. This stuck in my memory. I say to Poroshenko: Listen, it’s a good option for this territory to cease to be disputed within two or three years. Poroshenko tells me: why should I hold elections, they will be held under the control of Russia.
I suggested that I would hold elections there. Poroshenko refused, Putin agreed to everything. I thought they would hold elections calmly, quietly - the hryvnia would go there, you would control this territory, 400 km of the border. But he was afraid that they would choose the wrong ones.
There the conversation was like this: ok, not those this year. But you close the border - next year they will choose those. This was the conversation,” Lukashenko said.
According to him, Russia was going to implement the Minsk agreements 100%.
