Lukashenko decided to fight without “this expensive military modernization”
Belarus will not carry out expensive modernization of its army.
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko announced this to the military today at a meeting on issues of ensuring military security, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Look, when we recently met, before Russia’s military operation in Ukraine, we thought completely differently about the further development and modernization of our Armed Forces. Three months have passed of the confrontation between Ukraine and Russia, this military operation, we have seen that we do not need to carry out such modernization as we then aimed at: very expensive and for our republic, for our conditions - generally unacceptable. We understood what kind of army we should have,” Lukashenko said.
He explained that Belarus will be able to withstand modern threats, even without possessing weapons and a large army.
“The war will not be purely hot, but will be complex. This is an economic, informational, and hot war. Such a hybrid. It is customary to say that those countries are strong that have not only military power, but also population. But today the nature of war is changing so much that it will not depend so much on population size. We must fight not with numbers, but with skill. And even Belarus, which is small in size, is quite capable of resisting the largest states. A hot war is what we know how to do and will do if we suddenly have to,” Lukashenko added to the fog.
