Lukashenko: Russia is not introducing, but returning nuclear weapons to Belarus
The decision to deploy tactical nuclear weapons was made after Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko intensified negotiations with Russia on their “return”
Lukashenko stated this today, reading out a message to the Belarusian people and the National Assembly, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“It is precisely for the return of nuclear weapons that were withdrawn in the 90s under guarantees of non-application of sanctions against those who removed them. No offensive or revolution. Everything is trampled, everything is broken. “I have to raise the question of returning nuclear weapons, which then, even before me, the madmen signed obligations to remove them,” the president believes.
He said that in the 90s he was subjected to “the most severe pressure” not only from the West, but also from Russia, and was forced to retreat, agreeing to the withdrawal of weapons.
“I'm not trying to intimidate or blackmail anyone. I want to secure the Belarusian state and ensure peace for the Belarusian people. He deserves it,” Lukashenko said.
