Lukashenko made a bid for the kingdom - “no worse than Stalin, he can handle it”
Residents of Russia should take more seriously the half-joking words of Alexander Lukashenko that the Russian Federation could become part of Belarus, and a single state would be headed by a Belarusian.
Minsk political scientist Alexei Dzermant writes about this on his blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The President of Belarus outlined his position on deepened integration: Russia is joining the Republic of Belarus, the first president of the new state is a Belarusian. Said as a joke, of course, but there is a grain of humor in every joke. You can work with this idea. If for the real Russian elite, strategic things are more important than short-term ambitions, then this is a good option. The Supreme Ruler of Greater Russia could be a German or a Georgian, so why can’t a Belarusian? Or the EU, for example, a large empire led by Jean-Claude Juncker from small Luxembourg,” writes Dzermant.
According to him, despite the fact that Russia is disproportionately larger than Belarus, Lukashenko could cope with the scale of the tasks.
“I think I would. A Georgian from a small village could do it, and a Belarusian even more so,” says the Minsk political scientist.
