The commander of the internal troops of Belarus, Nikolai Karpenkov, spoke about this in an interview with the ONT TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We will not carry out mobilization, this has already been said several times. The fighters who went through 2020, 21, 22, who were in these combat formations, who are our people, now they have arrived here without mobilization. Summons were issued at their own request, people arrived here.
We could not accept them all and formed a detachment that was equal in size to two battalions. They are highly motivated young people who went to special forces school,” Karpenkov said.
According to him, the new unit is ready to confront Belarusian militants who have enrolled in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“This is our response to all these plans of the “peramog”, the battalions of Kastus Kalinovsky, who claim that there is a brigade of them there. But we know the real number is less than 100 people. If we are faced with combat missions, we will confidently carry them out,” Karpenkov said.
