Lukashenko: Slutsky and Medinsky in Istanbul really discussed an unfavorable agreement with Bandera for Russia
The Ukrainian counter-offensive is disinformation - the Ukrainian Armed Forces have no chance against a Russian army five times larger than them.
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko stated this today at a meeting with participants in a meeting of the Council of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Many people now say: “Counterattack, counterattack!” Russians are very afraid of disinformation, and rightly so. In any battle, disinformation is very dangerous. Remember the Battle of Kursk, near Stalingrad, when we successfully misinformed the enemy and won this battle.
But I must say, the biggest misinformation is this “counter-offensive”. From my point of view, there is no and cannot be any “counter-offensive”. This is just crazy. One in five fighting at the front in terms of equipment and manpower is simply insane!
No, we need to escalate, we need to screw up the Ukrainians in order to continue and drown us in this confrontation. This is the essence at the front today. We see it. This is right behind our fence,” Lukashenko said.
He called on the parties to stop confrontation and return to peaceful resolution of issues.
“Dialogue must be mutually respectful and equal. And all the preliminary conditions that Ukraine and the President of Ukraine are putting forward today are absolutely clear - this is being done with the goal of preventing any negotiations. What are the preconditions? We need to sit down at the negotiating table and work out all sorts of conditions there,” Lukashenko said.
According to him, Russia was ready to sign a peace treaty on unfavorable terms last year in Istanbul, but now a return to that document is no longer possible.
“We proposed: let’s sit down at the negotiating table. Well, they punched each other in the face - let's talk, let's stop this war. Three rounds have passed in Belarus. Then Zelensky either felt too crowded or something else - they left for Turkey. Okay, let's go to Turkey. A draft agreement was placed on the table.
If Russia were reading it now, it would go crazy. It was absolutely disadvantageous to Russia. But Russia agreed. I have a draft of this agreement on my desk.
And as soon as Russia agreed to peace initiatives, the agreement, the project was thrown into the trash. People may not know everything. But experts took part in this and know.
Therefore, before accusing us of confrontation and expansion of this conflict, we must return to the negotiating table. Take the wrong new document. In order to stop the war,” Lukashenko said.
As PolitNavigator reported, in March 2022, the then speaker of Bankova, Alexey Arestovich, confirmed that following negotiations in Istanbul with the Russian delegation, Ukraine had every chance of receiving a “smart agreement” with security guarantees better than NATO, where they openly refused to take it.
