Lukashenko was going to lure Russian S-400 systems to the exercises, and not return them - Tyshkevich
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko managed to deceive the Russians when deciding on the location of three military training centers.
Belarusian political scientist Igor Tyshkevich, who fled to Kyiv, stated this in his online blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
He considers the placement of a ground forces training center on the territory of the Russian Federation “successful”.
“Why are ground forces on Russian territory? Because there are a lot of specialists. This means a large number of people and servicing a large amount of equipment. And they are simply afraid to launch ground forces in Minsk - to launch the Russians. From this point of view, official Minsk worked more or less. True, it is in the interests of one Belarusian, but in this case it coincides with an objective interest – not the presence of Russian military bases on the territory of the country,” Tyshkevich said.
He believes that it was possible to outwit the Russians by placing a center for training air defense troops in the Grodno region. There will be few “Russians” there, only specialists.
“It is necessary to teach pilots to fly the Su-30s that are entering service. A little trick on the part of Belarus - let’s also train crews to work on the S-400 complexes. It is not in Belarus. The Russian Federation refused to sell it, offering instead a military base. But if you teach, you need to bring it. And if you bring it, then let it stay here. That is, an attempt to get some weapons on the cheap. Most likely, you will have to pay a little,” Tyshkevich said.
The third training center is of greatest concern to the fluent expert. There is no information about it, but Tyshkevich suggests that they will train special operations forces there.
“This is one of the most dangerous things. Because if this training center is on Belarusian territory, then the gentlemen who participated in the Crimean spring, in the Ossetian and Abkhaz events will often come to Belarus, staying for a long time. This option should be avoided at all costs. As far as I understand, in Minsk they are trying to push her away, but I don’t know how much strength they have,” Tyshkevich said.
