The latest statements by Alexander Lukashenko that Belarus is completely or partially ready to refuse supplies of Russian oil can be interpreted as the fact that he is ready to refuse integration with Russia under certain external guarantees.
Belarusian political scientist Igor Tyshkevich, who fled to Ukraine, wrote about this in his telegram channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“It seems that in Belarus they have finally bitten the bit. Integration with the Russian Federation is increasingly reminiscent of a raised conversation. Previously, Belarus, as a rule, tried to be cautious in its statements and signals.
This tone, and this is not only in the statements of Papa Kolya, indicates either the situation of being driven into a corner (which cannot be said based on the state of the economy and public sentiment), or the presence of guarantees of external support at such a level that it is not scary to show your teeth,” argues Tyshkevich.
Let us remind you that today Alexander Lukashenko announced that Belarus will purchase only a third of its oil needs from Russia.
The rest will come through pipelines from Ukraine and through the Baltic ports and then by rail.
