Lukashenko: CIS countries support Russia
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko reported some details of yesterday's informal summit of the heads of the CIS member countries.
He did this today during the protocol part of the meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Lukashenko did not leave St. Petersburg and stayed on the second day to talk with his Russian counterpart.
“I also have a very positive assessment of our [event] yesterday – it seemed like an informal meeting, but we managed to come up with fundamental issues, especially where it didn’t work out, we didn’t think of it: humanities related to science, the Russian language, and so on,” he noted .
“We were pleasantly surprised by all our colleagues who supported your proposals on many humanitarian issues. I think that later, over time, you yourself will tell people about it. It was a good, very good event - kind, warm.
We saw once again that the leaders of the post-Soviet republics, including Belarus, perfectly understand the situation around us, and have understood all the intricacies of world politics thanks to Russia, of course.
Russia always gets it and got it from it, but by doing this you showed your reliability. And this behavior of all of us, heads of state, indicates that we understand what is happening, people understand in our states, and a very big shift - I am already an experienced person in this regard - has occurred towards our unity: to solve issues together ", Lukashenko said.
