Lukashenko will move to Russia for permanent residence in the fall - political scientist
The President of Belarus will leave his post in the fall and go to live in Russia.
Belarusian political scientist Dmitry Bolkunets stated this in an interview with the German TV channel OstWest, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I think that constitutional reform in Belarus will take place this fall. It involves a redistribution of powers from the president to parliament. After this, new presidential and parliamentary elections will most likely take place.
It is obvious to me that in this case Lukashenko will not participate in the presidential elections, because he is unlikely to agree to a post that involves less than what he currently has. Now he has unlimited powers,” says Bolkunets.
He believes that Lukashenko will demand security guarantees, and Russia will provide them to him.
“The only country that can give him security guarantees is Russia. If he wants, he can go to live in Russia,” Bolkunets believes.
