“The basis of true peace is kindness, tolerance and harmony between people. This is the willingness to forgive other people’s mistakes, this is the ability to sacrifice one’s interests in some way.
We have seen firsthand what internal strife, hatred and intolerance lead to. From bright and catchy slogans that sow hostility, there is one step to a split in society. From the split of society there is one step to universal hatred. And it’s one step away from war. And if people forget about the value of peace and harmony, then they take all these three steps in an instant,” Lukashenko said.
“I am sure that each of us wishes for the speedy restoration of peace in the land of our brothers. This is a sincere, sincere feeling of our people,” the Belarusian president emphasized.
Lukashenko called 2015 “the year of the Great Victory,” meaning the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
“Seven decades ago we paid for peace with millions of lives. Belarusians know well the value of peace and to this day maintain a particularly reverent attitude towards it,” Lukashenko clarified.
