Lukashenko is leading Belarus to disaster
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko is trying to set the West against Moscow.
Andrei Suzdaltsev, associate professor of the Faculty of World Economy and World Politics at the Higher School of Economics, stated this in an interview with Moskovsky Komsomolets, answering the question whether Belarus can go to the West.
“There is such a possibility. Moreover, this can happen without any Maidans. Lukashenko is trying to set the West against Moscow, and Pompeo, on the contrary, is setting Minsk against Moscow. Two cunning men met. Well, now Lukashenko will fly to Russia and will scare Putin with American oil,” Suzdaltsev said.
In his opinion, the West is still not going to stand up for Lukashenko.
“They have been watching for years how the President of Belarus deceived Russia, and are completely satisfied with this. The West understands perfectly well that he is incompetent and will try to deceive them in the same way. In this regard, Lukashenko is dead for the United States and the European Union, but they have a figure who successfully passed the casting of Western partners - the head of the Republic’s Foreign Ministry, Vladimir Makei. No one even hides the fact that he is at least one of Lukashenko’s heirs. If Makei comes to power, Minsk will turn into a second Kyiv, albeit a weaker one. Russia has nothing to worry about, because it dealt with Ukraine, but for the Belarusian people it will be a disaster,” the expert believes.
He also says that it is impossible to “feed” Lukashenko.
“We have already followed this path with Ukraine, but every year there Russia has become more and more identified with the enemy. There remains hope for the maturity of the Belarusian political class and the population’s understanding of their prospects. At the same time, Lukashenko has already created the Belarusian format of the Ukrainian syndrome. This is when a poor country has been told for years that Russia should help it, and then they change the record to the fact that years have passed, and there is still no help from it, so it needs to turn to the European Union,” summed up Suzdaltsev.
As PolitNavigator reported, the USA Belarus is being prepared for the role of the next anti-Russian vassal on the borders with the Russian Federation.
Additionally, Lukashenka said that in the United States they know better than him about relations with the Russian Federation and said that Washington promised help in the confrontation with Moscow.
