Lukashenko is again going to build sovereignty at Russian expense
In Belarus, the concepts of sovereignty and stability are incompatible, because the country’s economy is completely dependent on the Russian Federation and its support.
Belarusian politician Elvira Mirsalimova stated this on the PolitWera Internet channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
She criticized the recent hidden inauguration of the country's president, Alexander Lukashenko, who again declared independent slogans and took the oath in the Belarusian language.
“Okay, well, the inauguration took place, but if he really said a good speech, we heard the oath again in the Belarusian language about this crossroads, about this sovereignty. By the way, you have to understand when these radical, “Zalukashenko-like” people come out and say: “We are for sovereignty and stability.” But these two concepts are not friends with each other.
I’ll explain why. Because sovereignty in the Belarusian understanding is, first of all, sovereignty from Russia. And Tikhanovskaya and Lukashenko say in one phrase: “We don’t trade sovereignty,” then an ordinary person hears, they say: “We are for your loans and for the fact that you opened markets for us, we will not unite with you.”
When they talk about sovereignty from Russia and at the same time stability, this cannot be. Because without Russia there won’t even be stability. And there is no way to talk about stability now. Stability is, after all, when everything is level,” Mirsalimova concluded.
