Lukashenko met with the President of Georgia immediately after her Russophobic statements
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko will do everything to ensure that good and warm relations with Georgia are preserved forever.
He stated this today at a meeting with the President of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili, the official website of the President of the Republic of Belarus reports.
“Today Georgia is in a leading position in relation to Belarus. We have very good, warm relations. Our peoples are very close. They not only respect each other, they love each other. We have a very good foundation of relations. And believe me, I will do everything to ensure that such good, warm relations in all areas are preserved forever,” Lukashenko said.
Zurabishvili, who arrived in Minsk for the opening of the European Games, was forced to interrupt her visit due to the riots in Tbilisi, which were organized by the Georgian opposition. The President of Georgia hastened to blame Russia for what was happening, calling it “an enemy and an occupier” on her Facebook.
Russia's ally President Lukashenko noted that Belarus is closely monitoring the situation in Georgia.
“We are not indifferent to what the situation is in Georgia. Your people experienced many difficult moments after the collapse of the Soviet Union. You always came out of difficult situations with dignity. And the current situation is difficult in Georgia, as in other republics, but we are courageous people and will find a way out of the most difficult situations,” Lukashenko said and expressed hope that Zurabishvili will visit Minsk again.
