BelTa reports this.
Famous French actor Gerard Depardieu will star in the film “Normandie - Neman”, a co-production between Russia, Belarus and France. It is reported that President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has already allocated $2 million for the filming of this film.
At the moment, various organizational issues are being resolved. The film will become one of the largest joint film works of the three countries. As Gosfilmfond General Director Nikolai Borodachev, who represents the Russian side in this project, noted, viewers will not see Depardieu in the leading role. It is known that the famous Frenchman will play a minor character - perhaps a mechanic, or another similar role.
Let us remind you that Gerard Depardieu visited Belarus this summer, making a fairly positive impression of this country and even expressing a desire to move there in the future. During his visit, the actor met with the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, who personally gave him a master class in mowing.
He also spoke with reporters about the film “Normandy-Niemen”, saying that the film crew will try to portray the real history of the legendary regiment, using testimonies of direct participants in those events, including the memoirs of General Charles de Gaulle.
