Lukashenko asked Xi for a “Chinese soul”
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko visited China today.
He complained to Chinese President Xi Jinping about the difficulties of the five-hour flight, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“It’s always harder going east than going west,” he said.
“I always have a good time in China. At least it’s calm. When there are disputes in the West, China begins to be criticized for something, I tell them: be grateful that one and a half billion people live a calm, good, normal life. This is worth a lot in our time,” Lukashenko said.
He thanked Xi Jinping for the meeting.
“I know it hasn’t been easy for you lately. A huge number of international meetings, not to mention domestic politics. Well, this is the burden of one of the leaders of our planet, so we have to endure it,” Lukashenko complimented.
According to him, “comprehensive and all-weather cooperation between Belarus and China is determined by the unity of ideologies and the logic of the processes that are taking place today.” Lukashenko assured Xi that there is “not a single issue on which there is no movement, the only issue is speed.”
He praised China for the fact that, unlike the West, “which divided everyone,” Beijing is concerned about the common destiny of humanity.
“The world will be grateful to great China for this. It is in the interests of the entire planet that China develops,” Lukashenko said.
In response, Xi Jinping called the Belarusian president his great friend.
“Under the strong leadership of Mr. President, your country has managed to overcome the impact of various negative factors and maintain social harmony and stability,” Xi said, stressing that for China, maintaining stability is very important when “much of what happens is unexpected.”
Gifts were exchanged. Xi Jinping gave Lukashenko a silk painting. Old Man immediately asked for another one to hang in his Minsk Palace of Independence.

Political scientist Alexander Nosovich is sure that at the meeting Xi and Lukashenko discussed the Russian president.
“Chinese investments in Belarus continue. However, after the start of the Northeast Military District, Chinese-Belarusian relations cannot develop without the “Russia-Belarus-China” triangle. All negotiations will take place through the prism of relations between Xi and Putin and Lukashenko and Putin,” Nosovich told Paragraph.
