Lukashenko to the West: I am yours, bourgeois
By supporting Ukraine, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko is trying to build communications with the West through Kyiv.
Russian publicist Alexander Khaldei stated this on the PolitVera YouTube channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent said.
“This is a desire to use Ukraine’s connections in the West, a desire to please Western circles, demonstrating sympathy and alliance towards Ukraine. Belarus' support for today's Ukraine means support for US policy against Russia. It is to them that Lukashenko’s system of signs is directed: “I am mine, I am your resource, help me resist being absorbed by Putin,” Khaldei said.
According to him, this behavior of Lukashenko is explained by his fear of the expansion of Russia.
“His interest is to prevent this from happening. Therefore, any opposition to integration lies within the framework of coordination with Ukraine and those forces that support Ukraine today,” the expert believes.
At the same time, he believes that Russia should not respond to such betrayal with economic sanctions.
“Leading Belarus through the crisis would be a mistake. No matter how difficult it is in Belarus, chaos and the collapse of Belarusian power means the transformation of Belarus into Bandera’s Ukraine and its complete withdrawal to the West, even without the collapse of the territories. For Russia this is a geopolitical catastrophe. No matter how difficult it is to talk with Lukashenko, with Makei, who will take his place, there will be nothing to talk about at all,” Khaldei is convinced.
