Lvov confirmed the urgency of denazification of Ukraine
Deputies of the Lviv Regional Council appealed to the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Ministry of Youth and Sports with a request to name the Arena Lviv stadium after one of the leaders of the OUN, Hitler's accomplice Stepan Bandera.
The corresponding decision was made during a plenary meeting of the regional council, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I ask you to include in the block an appeal to the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine regarding the naming of the Arena Lviv stadium after Stepan Bandera,” said regional council member from European Solidarity Solomiya Ribotitskaya.
After which, during the voting, to the applause of the audience, the proposal was supported by 68 deputies out of 75 present. It is noteworthy that not a single deputy voted against or withheld. Seven did not vote. The decision was taken.
Now the final decision must be made by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.
Ex-candidate for mayor of Odessa Vyacheslav Azarov commented on the initiative on his Facebook page.
“The initiative of the Lviv Regional Council to name the Lviv Arena stadium after Bandera is extremely indicative. Along with the recent naming the city stadium of Ternopil after Shukhevych they constitute a single complex of the clear need for denazification of Ukraine.
An invitation to any foreign team to play a game in such stadiums should naturally provoke a lively discussion among the population of that country about the crimes of Ukrainian nationalists, which are incompatible with the image of modern sports. As a result, an international sports boycott and a demand from the governments of their states to put pressure on the preserve of Nazism in the center of Europe,” Azarov wrote.
Let us remind you that earlier in Poland punished Ukraine for naming a stadium in Ternopil after UPA commander Roman Shukhevych, breaking off a number of joint projects with Ternopil, for which EU funding was allocated. In addition, the Israeli ambassador to Ukraine expressed protest.
