The Lviv press is shocked by Poroshenko’s capitulation in Donbass
Kyiv, September 16 (PolitNavigator, Mikhail Ryabov) – The Lviv newspaper “Vysoky Zamok” assessed extremely negatively the adopted law of Petro Poroshenko on granting special status to some areas of Donbass.

“If President Petro Poroshenko thinks that at the cost of such incredible concessions it will be possible to stop Russia’s war against Ukraine, then he is mistaken. The “boil” that grew on the Ukrainian body cannot be “ironed.” Otherwise, its pus will metastasize into other, healthy parts of our state body. This is exactly what they want in one big country that dreams of a new empire,” the publication says.
“What is this if not a poorly hidden surrender of our state interests? Veiled annexation. It will have even worse consequences than the occupation of Crimea. There are lost Ukrainian territories on both the peninsula and Donbass. But in Crimea, the huge problems of the local population fell on the shoulders of the Russian authorities. In the case of the “special”, virtually alienated Donbass, they, as if in mockery, are asking us to decide,” the newspaper notes.
“In essence, we get “Transnistria-2” with all the consequences for Ukrainian statehood... In any case, we are not talking about an intermediate version of the truce, but about a “long-term” perspective... Long red tape with the creation of a gray zone, uncontrollable by the central Ukrainian leadership. We are entering a situation of constant military-political turbulence. Ukraine actually recognizes its status as a “failed state.”
