Lviv Catholics dream, together with the West, of depriving Russia of nuclear weapons
The Russians are trying to restore Great Russia, which will be an alternative to the current world order. Ukraine is fighting with the West to deprive Russia of its great power status and nuclear weapons.
Professor of the Ukrainian Catholic University (Lvov) Yaroslav Gritsak said this on Radio NV, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The root of the problem is not Putin, communism, which is a manifestation of the old Russian disease, but this disease, this is the Russians’ attempt to restore great Russia, great Rus', and Rus' is not some kind of empire or territory, but something that should save the whole world. This is gigantomania, by the way. We formulate it differently, this should be the de-Russification of Russia.
Russia must turn not into Great Rus', but into a normal state, like other states, which does not pose a threat to other peoples and will develop without threats to its citizens. And this means demilitarization, first of all, in particular, control over the nuclear button. I think that control should be international. It is obvious that certain measures are needed, because Russia itself is not capable of this,” said the professor.
Gritsak admitted that he could not guarantee victory over Russia.
“I can’t say how it will end. Of course, I have every hope that Ukraine will win, but I’m just saying that the war is against Ukraine, that the victory of Ukraine will solve the issue of the model. I think for a long time, if not forever,” the Catholic professor did not rule out.
