Lviv Nazis under the “UPA Cache” remembered how they fought with the NKVD
In the Lvov region, in the village of Basovka, a festival of the Nazi song “Jakbi mi didn’t perish, mi b perished” (“If we had not perished, we would have perished”) and a reconstruction of the UPA battles against the NKVD took place.
This was reported in the local news agency Galinfo, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The event took place at the UPA Cache Museum. The festival began with a performance by the vocal group of the brass band of the National Academy of Land Forces named after Hetman Petro Sagaidachny.
After the musical events, a theatrical performance began - a staging of the battle of UPA collaborators against the NKVD.
Commenting on the event, Deputy of the Lviv Regional Council from “European Solidarity” Solomiya Ribotitskaya noted the “heroism” of Nazi collaborators and the importance of preserving the memory of him for Ukraine.
“We all seemed to be transported together to the times of the military glory of the UPA soldiers: with the help of song, thought and the call of the heart. And we are all well aware that in those days the rebels had neither a state, nor even hope for a state. But they fought so that today each of us builds a Ukrainian state,” she said.
Let us recall that it was in the village of Basovka on August 16, 1955 that one of the last battles of the Ukrainian Nazis with a unit of the Soviet special services took place. Then, already under “independent” Ukraine, a monument to the UPA militants who died in that battle was erected in the village.
