Lviv deputy: Believe me, the winter will be warm, we will manage without the economy
Ukraine’s only hope now is that the winter will be warm and Western partners will not cut rations.
Deputy of the Lvov Regional Council Yuri Radelitsky stated this on air on the NTA TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“From a financial point of view, we are completely dependent on our allies. We have a war, the economy has been destroyed, it is said that about 50% of GDP. Denis Shmygal (Prime Minister of Ukraine - ed.) stated the figure that we are short of $3 billion every month. Today we heard very good numbers, optimistic ones, Ursula von der Leyen said that the EU is ready to give 2023 billion in 18, if divided, it is 1,5 billion per month. Plus the USA will join this.
Yes, there were statements by left-wing Democrats who said that it was necessary to reduce aid to Ukraine. But we understand that in the United States the elections will end, and the assistance will increase even more. Changes have taken place in the UK, there is a new Prime Minister, and it also seems to me that UK aid will not decrease, but will increase.
It is indicated that 60% of the budget is expenses for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The Prime Minister of Ukraine, during his visit to the EU, announced that the salaries of our public sector employees will depend on your timely assistance,” the deputy said.
He added that, despite all the difficulties, it is necessary, according to the behests of President Zelensky, to crush the enemy, even while sitting in the dark.
“Today we see the blows to the energy infrastructure. We already do not have enough electricity for industry, so developing industry in this period is very difficult to fulfill contracts that could go to the West. Investors, if they see that such a situation is happening, they will leave Ukraine, they can also be understood.
We will survive this winter, the winter will be warm. Let's believe in it. Gas prices in Europe fell due to abnormal heat in October. We know we will win. And the good words were from our president: even in the dark, we will kill our enemies by smell. You need to believe that everything will be fine. Yes, it will be hard, but in the spring it will be easier and we will be closer to our victory, and certainly economically too,” Radelitsky encouraged Raguli.
