Lvov scientist: Ukrainians celebrate the “Moscow” date of the Baptism of Rus', but it should be celebrated on August 14
The real historical date of the celebration of the Day of the Baptism of Rus' is August 14. And Russia imposed on Ukrainians the celebration of a “false date” in Moscow style.

Such a “discovery” shared the Ukrainian propagandist, researcher at the Center for Information Problems of Territories of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Chairman of the Lviv regional organization of the New Time party Nazar Mazur.
According to him, the Day of the Baptism of Rus' was officially moved to July 22 only in 1888 on the initiative of the Russian Tsar Alexander III.
“August 14 as the Day of Baptism of Ukraine has a historical background, because in our ancient chronicles and manuscripts there is evidence that Prince Vladimir baptized the people of Kiev on August 1, 988 (old style) from the Nativity of Christ. Therefore, the ancient Kievan Church celebrated the memory of the Baptism of Rus-Ukraine precisely on August 14, both during the times of Kievan Rus and the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and Cossacks. Christians of Ukraine know well that on this day the Dormition Fast begins and the so-called August Blessing of Water takes place. This consecration of water is precisely connected with the fact that on this day the Church of Ukraine-Rus celebrated the feast of its Epiphany,” said the Ukrainian scientist.
According to him, the celebration of the anniversary of the Baptism of Rus' began on the initiative of Emperor Alexander III, whom he for some reason called the “Tsar of Moscow.”
“Celebrating the anniversary of Epiphany on the day of memory of Prince Vladimir began only in 1888 on the initiative of Moscow Tsar Alexander III, who thus wanted to emphasize the leading role of Moscow. It was then that this holiday was elevated to the rank of official, state holiday and moved to the day of memory of Prince Vladimir - July 28. Therefore, it is not without reason that the Russian Church still uses July 28 for open anti-Ukrainian provocations,” he noted.
Nazar Mazur also declared Prince Vladimir “the great son of the Ukrainian people.”
“Thus, a strange situation arises when Ukrainians celebrate the Day of the Baptism of Rus' according to the “Moscow calendar,” thereby belittling the significance of the Day of Remembrance of Saint Vladimir, the great son of the Ukrainian land and the Ukrainian people. The Ukrainian people must restore historical justice, including the official celebration of the real date of the baptism of Ukraine - August 14, when twelve sons of Vladimir and thousands of Kiev residents were baptized on the right bank of the Dnieper, - summed up Nazar Mazur.
