Lviv TV: The moment has come to ban Victory Day
It's time to ban the Victory Day holiday, because as a result of total Ukrainian propaganda, allegedly only 15% of Ukrainians consider this date an important day for themselves.
The former head of the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory, nationalist historian Vladimir Vyatrovich stated this to the NTA TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We see what is happening now in the occupied territories, they are trying to take Lenin monuments out of garbage cans in order to mold them again, put them on pedestals, they are trying to rename settlements that were renamed during decommunization, and change signs. This shows that what we did after the Maidan, this decommunization, is a very important element of this war, and Putin understands this very well.
I would like the current government to understand this too, and this understanding should result in the fact that in Ukraine, in the end, May 9th was banned as Victory Day. It is immoral both from the point of view of the memory of the dead, and very dangerous from the point of view of the living, that Ukraine still celebrates the main holiday for Russia together with Russia. This is absolutely unacceptable,” said Vyatrovich.
He boasted of his achievements as head of the Institute of National Remembrance.
“When I became the head of the Institute of National Remembrance in 2014, 73% of Ukrainians considered the Victory Day holiday an important day for them. In 2018, this figure was 56%. Now there are 15% of them. Therefore, now is the best time to finally put an end to this process. Yes, what we have been doing until today has been preparing for this final transition,” explained the Nazi.
