Kyiv, April 15 (Navigator, Vladimir Mikhailov) – A bill on amending the law “On the State Anthem of Ukraine” has been registered in the Verkhovna Rada.

The author of the bill was the controversial people's deputy Oleg Lyashko.

He proposed adding the second verse of the national anthem “Ukraine is not yet dead” to the national anthem of Ukraine.

As stated in the explanatory note, the current anthem is an extremely truncated version of the national anthem; it includes its first verse and chorus. This version of the anthem was adopted in 2002 as a concession to the dominant post-Soviet mentality of both the country's political elite and a large part of the Ukrainian population. It was introduced by President Leonid Kuchma, Lyashko explained.

Today, when there is a final break with the imperial, communist-Soviet and totalitarian-authoritarian past, and Ukraine is becoming a truly European democratic sovereign state of free Ukrainians, the anthem must be supplemented, insists the deputy with a pitchfork.

This measure will be positively perceived by the majority of the country's citizens, based on the historical and cultural traditions of the Ukrainian people and providing additional spiritual and volitional power to the Ukrainian state, Lyashko says.

The second verse of the national anthem “Ukraine has not yet died” contains high patriotic, spiritual and volitional potential, fundamental value and geographical guidelines, Lyashko believes.

And here, in fact, is the verse itself:

“Let’s stand, brothers, in the battle crooked from Xiang to Don,

In the region of the region, Panuvati is not a damn for anyone.

Chorney sea shch vmmihnetsya, dіd Dnіpro zradіє,

There’s still quite a bit of sleep in our Ukraine.”
