Lyashko overtakes Poroshenko in presidential rankings
At the moment, the leaders of the presidential rating are Yulia Tymoshenko and former Defense Minister Anatoly Gritsenko, while current President Petro Poroshenko occupies only fourth place.
This is evidenced by the results of a survey conducted by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
If the presidential elections in Ukraine were held in mid-April 2018 and Svyatoslav Vakarchuk and Vladimir Zelensky participated in them, then in the first round Yulia Tymoshenko would have received more votes than other candidates (among the candidates on the list provided to the respondent) (16,1% among those who are going to vote and have decided). Next come Anatoly Gritsenko (12,7%), Oleg Lyashko (12,2%), Petro Poroshenko (12,2%), Vladimir Zelensky (10,8%) and Svyatoslav Vakarchuk (9,6%). The difference in support for these (except for Tymoshenko) candidates is practically within the margin of error, that is, they rather “share” second place.
“There is an incorrect interpretation of these results when they say that Anatoly Gritsenko would have reached the second round. In fact, for candidates, starting with Gritsenko, the difference in support is almost within the bounds of error. Support for Gritsenko, Poroshenko, Vakarchuk from the point of view of opinion polls is approximately the same. In fact, they share second place. These candidates could equally qualify for the second round,” comments Anton Grushetsky, deputy director of the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology.
Also, the leader of the Opposition Bloc, Yuri Boyko, would receive 8,8%, and the oligarch Vadim Rabinovich would receive 8,6%. Other candidates have much less support.
At the same time, 29% of citizens who are ready to participate in elections have not yet decided who they will vote for. Their decision could significantly change the balance of power, noted Anton Grushetsky.
“The difference between the candidates is minimal; with such dynamics, various surprises may await us,” he emphasized.
The survey was conducted by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS) from April 5 to April 19, 2018. Using the method of personal interviews, 2004 respondents living in 110 settlements of all regions of Ukraine were interviewed using a 4-stage stochastic sample, representative of the population of Ukraine over 18 years of age.
In the Luhansk and Donetsk regions, the survey was conducted only in the territory controlled by the Ukrainian authorities.
