Lyashko: The agreement with the EU, for which the Maidan was jumping, turned out to be “a gap where you can’t poke your nose”
The Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union, which triggered the Euromaidan, turned out to be unfavorable for Square. The head of the “Radical Party” faction, Oleg Lyashko, stated this from the rostrum of the Verkhovna Rada.
According to him, the free trade zone with the European Union is “a gap into which Ukrainians are not allowed to stick their nose.”

“The quotas established by this agreement for Ukrainian products, primarily agricultural, are absolutely miserable and do not meet the national interests of Ukraine. The hands need to be cut off from those who set these quotas and were unable to defend the national interests of the manufacturer during the preparation of this agreement.
In fact, this is not a Free Trade Zone, but a crevice into which we are not even allowed to stick our noses.
For example, out of the million one hundred thousand tons of chicken that we produced last year, without customs we can sell only 15 thousand tons per year. Or four thousand tons of tomatoes out of almost half a million tons that our Kherso and Mykolayiv regions produce.
They are (EU) they can import anything they want to us without duty, but we cannot bring our own. Does this meet the national interests of Ukraine? No!
Ukraine’s national interest is that we sell our products as much as possible, receive more foreign currency, and not beg like homeless people, begging for loans,” Lyashko said.
