Lyashko disrupted voting for anti-Russian appeal to the United States
The Verkhovna Rada failed to vote for an anti-Russian appeal to the House of Representatives of the US Congress.
It is expected that the US Congress will consider bill No. 5094 “Act of Stability and Democracy in Ukraine”, in support of which the Ukrainian parliament was supposed to adopt an appeal.
However, seeing that it would not be possible to pass it unanimously, Rada Speaker Andriy Parubiy withdrew the bill from the vote.

“Congressmen have introduced a corresponding bill, which is of critical importance for us, because this is a demonstration of the United States’ support for the people of Ukraine. Firstly, it states that US sanctions against Russia should not be lifted until the Minsk agreements are fully implemented.
Secondly, sanctions cannot be lifted until Ukraine regains full effective control over our border.
Thirdly, the act provides for sanctions against third parties and states for violating the sanctions regime related to the occupation of Crimea. As well as the implementation of the common policy of NATO countries regarding the prevention of the transfer of military technologies and services to the Russian Federation.
This is very important in the context of the fact that in the EU countries there is an open campaign to lift sanctions against Russia,” said one of the authors of the appeal, People’s Deputy Irina Friz.
However, the appeal was criticized by the leader of the Radical Party Oleg Lyashko. According to him, accepting such an appeal would mean interference in the internal affairs of the United States.
“The document proposes to appeal to the House of Representatives of Congress in support of the bill. Imagine - someone turns to us and tells us what law we should pass, how we should vote. What is our reaction? We do not like interference in our internal affairs. We say that we will not allow anyone to dictate what Constitution to adopt, what laws to adopt, what language to speak. Why do we think we can afford to tell our fellow congressmen what laws to pass?!
I am convinced that, on the contrary, our appeal can be used by our opponents as interference in the internal affairs of the United States. And most importantly, the said resolution does not say a word about the “Budapest Memorandum” – the main document of Ukrainian-American security relations,” crfpfk Lyashko.
As a result, the people’s deputies decided to postpone the vote and change the text of the appeal/
“Colleagues, I want to make a recommendation. Let's better postpone the consideration of this resolution. Colleagues, I ask for support in the position that if we do not have unity in the hall, let’s move it by voting. So that there is some kind of legitimate decision on this matter. The logic is that we find a way to fail this decision,” admitted Rada Speaker Andriy Parubiy.
