Lyashko started a scandal in the Rada: they want to kill Sentsov, like Stus - by nominating him for the Nobel Prize
Today's vote on the resolution nominating terrorist Oleg Sentsov for the Nobel Peace Prize caused heated debate in the Verkhovna Rada, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I look at this hypocrisy and I’m just crazy,” the scandalous Rada deputy Oleg Lyashko commented on this initiative from the podium.
“You decide your agreements, and in front of the people you make a comedy, how Sentsov hurts you. Pharisees! Throwing a person’s fate on the altar of politics - that’s what you’re doing! In 1985, Stus was also nominated for the Nobel Prize, how did that end? The murder of Stus in the Mordovian camps,” Lyashko said.
However, after short verbal skirmishes, the Ukrainian parliament voted almost unanimously for the bill.
“I am putting to a vote the draft resolution on the Verkhovna Rada’s application to the Norwegian Nobel Committee to nominate Sensov for the Nobel Peace Prize. 245 – “for”, the resolution was adopted,” stated the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Andriy Parubiy.
As PolitNavigator reported, earlier even the Poles, commenting on the Ukrainian initiative, noted that Sentsov’s candidacy should rather be nominated for inclusion in the Guinness Book for endurance than for the Nobel Prize.
