Fans of “Abrams tanks on Tverskaya” are not our compatriots – Primakov
Compatriots who are abroad must be supported regardless of their political preferences, but this does not mean that support will be provided to representatives who spread ideas directed against Russian statehood.
The head of Rossotrudnichestvo Evgeny Primakov stated this at a press conference, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We need to help [compatriots] preserve their identity. What does this mean? This means they must understand and remember where the Motherland is, where they are from, and where and what connections they have. These are our expectations from them, and what we can give them through internships, courses, training, work with communities, organizations, and so on.
The second story is, excuse the frankness, basic political loyalty. Let's pose this question clearly and directly. It doesn’t matter who they vote for, Russia is a democratic country, they can vote for the Reds, for the Greens, for anyone. But they should not support “Abrams tanks on Tverskaya.” This is impossible for us,” Primakov said.
“We are a foreign policy agency within the foreign policy department, we cannot be outside of politics, it is impossible. Organic question. We cannot support and help spread ideas such as return Crimea to Ukraine, Russia is an occupier, “the annexation of Crimea is an Anschluss,” comparing Russia with fascist Germany and other rubbish. We cannot do this, and we will not do this, at least while I head our Agency. We won’t have this,” the politician emphasized.
Earlier, as PolitNavigator reported, liberal Russian journalist Arkady Babchenko fled to Ukraine promised to return to Moscow on an American tank.
