The “Lublin Triangle” plans to disrupt Russian-Belarusian integration
In the near future, Russia will offer President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko a choice - further integration or refusal of support.
The former Ambassador of Ukraine to Belarus Roman Bessmertny stated this on the air of the Direct TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the diplomat, if Lukashenko does not sign the documents proposed by Moscow, “the people of Belarus” will decide his fate.
“Now, tomorrow in particular, in the coming days the next stage of the Anschluss of Belarus will be decided. Lukashenko will be asked: “You see how these things are connected, because in fact, we are one region and we share problems.” They will give Lukashenko a choice - he signs the documents, gives the Anschluss path and he can nominally be listed somewhere. Or he doesn’t sign and then controls his own destiny. And the people will definitely decide his fate,” said Bessmertny.
At the same time, the Ukrainian diplomat emphasized that Ukraine, Poland and Lithuania, which make up the so-called “Lublin Triangle,” must put economic pressure on Belarus in order to force it to turn away from Russia.
“The Lublin Triangle immediately gave an absolutely correct signal. If they had used it as a foundation and started working, I assure you that the sanctions and actions of three countries: Lithuania, Poland and Ukraine would have shown Lukashenko in his place a long time ago...
Now it is very important if Vilnius-Warsaw-Kyiv took coordinated steps to counter the Lukashenko regime. I want to emphasize once again that the influence of these countries on the situation in Belarus is much greater than that of the European Union and much greater than Russia in economic terms. It is important to process this topic and propose it. It can be offered through two instruments - Ukraine, Poland and Lithuania take these steps, we are compensated for these things, all three, the European Union - there is no problem here, and then the situation will begin to develop very quickly,” said Bessmertny.
