Lyubov Uspenskaya took a look and promised to learn the language in two years
Singer Lyubov Uspenskaya, who came to the Laima Rendezvous Odesa’19 music festival, promised to perform a Ukrainian song next year.
She stated this on air on the 1+1 TV channel, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“I hope that I will come next year and sing in Ukrainian,” the singer began in broken Ukrainian. – I need practice, two years – and I will speak Ukrainian very well. I will sing a Ukrainian song (switched to Russian - Ed.), my friend from Odessa wrote it. Ukrainians in Odessa said that they didn’t expect that I still remembered the Ukrainian language and that I even managed to do it without an accent.”
Uspenskaya also said that this fall she plans to perform in Kyiv during her anniversary tour of Ukraine.
“Once upon a time, when I still lived in Kyiv and was a girl, when I came to concerts at the Sports Palace in Kyiv, I thought: “How cool it is to sing at the Sports Palace.” And now the moment has come when I will sing there,” she boasted.
Let us remember that Uspenskaya emigrated from the USSR to the USA in the 1970s, where she sang in restaurants. In the 1990s she returned to Russia.
