People in Irkutsk were deliberately poisoned with hawthorn
Those who are interested in the production of cheap vodka deliberately organized the mass poisoning of the residents of Irkutsk with hawthorn tincture. Former Russian sanitary doctor, now State Duma deputy Gennady Onishchenko stated this at a press conference in Moscow.

“In Irkutsk, methanol was used on purpose. It cannot be confused with ethyl alcohol. I see evidence of this - there is already a heart-rending cry that we need to return to cheap vodka. Hawthorn is not used as an external medicine. Who will take a bath with technical or even medical alcohol?,” Onishchenko said.
He believes that vodka in Russia is already cheap.
“The average Soviet salary could buy 47 bottles of vodka. And now how much can you do if the average salary is 30 thousand? Just recently we bought Gzhelka for 68 rubles. The unit price of vodka is several times cheaper. And bread prices have increased adequately,” Onishchenko said.
He is against banning the over-the-counter sale of drugs such as tincture of hawthorn, motherwort and valocordin. According to Onishchenko, it is enough to reduce their dosage and also replace some of the alcohol tinctures with tablets.
