Journalists from the Ukrainian publication “Novoye Vremya” revealed a discrepancy between the General Staff data and the real results of the fifth wave of mobilization. The military department assured that the fifth wave of mobilization was completed by more than 90%, while the real shortfall was up to 30%. There are fewer volunteers, but the number of draft dodgers has increased.

“People don’t see the point in this war and don’t want to risk their lives. Unfortunately, we have very poor motivation. The average person doesn’t quite understand why we are fighting, who we are fighting with,” Stanislav Gurak, deputy head of the board of the Center for Military and Security Policy, comments on the situation.
The military registration and enlistment offices are also pessimistic about the results of the mobilization.
“If in previous waves we had hundreds of volunteers, then during the fifth wave there were only 20 such people in the entire region,” complains Roman Poronyuk, speaker of the military registration and enlistment office of the Lviv region.
