Maidan on tour: Moscow liberals performed in Yekaterinburg

A rally against the cancellation of mayoral elections took place today in Yekaterinburg. About 1700 people gathered for it. The reason for the gathering was the bill of the governor of the Sverdlovsk region, Evgeny Kuyvashev, on postponing the elections of the head of the capital of the Urals to the local Legislative Assembly.

The bill will be considered on April 3.

The rally had solid financial support. All participants were given red gel balloons, which had to be released into the sky in the finale. The opening act was a rock band. In the meantime, those who wished could drink tea and cookies.

The event itself lasted less than an hour. Among the speakers there were an equal number of locals and visitors - Muscovites. The capital's guests represented all facets of the liberal opposition: Yulia Galyamina - a supporter of Garry Kasparov, Dmitry Gudkov from the Yabloko party and, finally, Navalny's closest supporter Leonid Volkov.

Apparently, Navalny activists made up the majority of the rally participants. From time to time they tried to chant their traditional slogans: “Putin is a thief” and “We are the power here,” but this initiative was immediately stopped from the stage.

As PolitNavigator reported, yesterday a rally with balloons took place in Volokamsk near Moscow, where local residents are outraged by the operation of a landfill, due to emissions from which children were poisoned.
