“My son told me with tears in his eyes: at school they tease him as a “Bandera freak.” Children bring this from their parents, and they do not particularly hide their radical sentiments,” the publication quotes the words of an immigrant from Donbass named Anatoly.
Such cases, the publication notes, are far from isolated.
“They write SMS with threats, write on social networks - now several hundred messages a day. Knowing about my active Ukrainian position, they show that the Poles can persecute us. I’m sometimes scared to even leave the house, because behind every message there is a real person,” complained the head of the Euromaidan-Warsaw public committee Natalya Panchenko.
“The wave of attacks is associated with the release of the film “Volyn” about ethnic cleansing during the Second World War. It is this film that is most often cited as an argument by Polish users of the group Ukrainiec NIE jest moim bratem (“The Ukrainian is not my brother”) on Facebook: passions are running high there with the most xenophobic statements,” Vesti emphasizes.
