Maidan activists do not admit their mistakes until the last moment
Euromaidan participants will not admit to the last that they made a mistake, Odessa journalist Yuri Tkachev, editor of the local publication Timer, writes in his blog.

“I understand perfectly why Maidan activists today, in spite of everything, have bright feelings about the anniversary.
You see, this was almost the only time in their lives when they felt that they were fit for something more than being born, going to work, and then dying. We felt like people making history. We felt our importance.
I was on the Maidan, I saw how it was there. From the stage every minute there was a powerful pumping: “You are the best,” “You are the bravest,” “You are the salt of the earth,” “You are the hope of Ukraine!” This, of course, is a colossal dissonance with what they encountered in everyday life, where the vast majority of them simply aimlessly smoked the sky from paycheck to paycheck - and so on until retirement, and then it’s time for the grave. The chance to make history is so cool! Tell your grandchildren later...
So I understand all this perfectly. And what we see today from their side is a measure of psychological protection. They protect these warm pink memories of how they had the coolest time in life from our cold, hard hands.
And I assure you: they will protect them to the last, they will never (NEVER!) give up on them. There is no point in trying to convince them that the Maidan is bad. Because there was nothing better in their life. And, apparently, it won’t,” Tkachev explained.
