Maidan activists: Let's complain to the Anglo-Saxons, they will punish Russia!
Kyiv must hand over the list of Russian citizens involved in the trial of the Ukrainian Navy sailors who surrendered to the British government for the imposition of sanctions, otherwise it will not be possible to influence Russia.
About this during a round table on the topic: “Sanctions against Russia: how to maintain European unity?” Maria Tomak, co-coordinator of the Media Initiative for Human Rights, said in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Having worked with the topic of human rights violations as part of aggression for more than four years, we see that the greatest reaction we can get from the Russian Federation is not when we simply state violations of rights, but when we say that we are compiling lists of those involved and handing them over to representatives governments, such as the UK. Then we appear on Russian TV, and they rinse us there. Therefore, I think this is effective,” said the Maidan activist.
“I want to join the call, maybe not direct, from the Ukrainian government regarding the reaction in the form of sanctions, including the capture of Ukrainian sailors. We already see multiple violations there - the denial of access to lawyers in Crimea, who visited the wounded sailors, we also see low qualifications, because they should be recognized as prisoners of war, but Russia accuses them of criminal offenses, and this is already a violation.
However, the trial is still ahead, so far suppression has been chosen, we can talk about attracting prosecutors, but the investigative team remains unknown, however, these people should also be subject to sanctions. And what is very important is that in these processes, specifically regarding sailors, in court hearings we see the same names. For example, judge Mozhelyansky, who took part in the ban on the Majlis and in other politically motivated processes,” added Maria Tomac.
