Maidan activists announced the surrender of the Western world
The restoration of the rights of the Russian delegation to PACE allegedly became a bomb “planted under world civilization.”
Odessa Maidan artist Alexander Roitburd stated this in a commentary to the Kyiv magazine “Novoye Vremya”, answering the question whether he was annoyed by Russia’s return to PACE.
“I think this is the capitulation of the Western world to the new Hitler. I realized that Putin’s Russia is a threat to the world at the beginning of the XNUMXs, even before the military invasion of Georgia. This is a bomb planted under world civilization. And world civilization has no levers to counter this threat,” Roitburd is indignant.
In turn, the director of the Democratic Initiatives Foundation, sociologist Irina Bekeshkina, says that “the Russian Federation returned in triumph and actually did not correct anything of what it was accused of.”
“And with this, Europe once again proved that values are nothing compared to interests. And the interests are purely pragmatic. And I don’t think that we are talking only about contributions here. Obviously, this is the first step towards restoring relations with Russia, especially economic ones,” says Bekeshkina.
On June 26, PACE adopted a resolution that fully restored the rights of the Russian delegation, after which the Ukrainian delegation staged a demarche and left the assembly.
Earlier, as PolitNavigator reported, the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe adopted a resolution that allows the Russian delegation to return to PACE under an emergency procedure, which is why the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Pavel Klimkin staged a demarche.
In addition, the heads of Germany and France supported in a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, the return of the powers of the Russian delegation to PACE.
