Maidan workers fought with police and performed a ritual in pink smoke
A scuffle with the police and bonfires with chants under the walls of the Ukrainian parliament marked the second day of the action in defense of the law on total Ukrainization.
As a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, the conflict with the protesters flared up against the backdrop of the fact that law enforcement officers refused to let in “activists” who were carrying logs for “vatra,” which was firewood piled up in a hut and the slogan: “Don’t add fuel to the fire, don’t touch your tongue!
The jostling and mutual cursing actually escalated into a brawl, until outside intervention intervened in the conflict and promised that the fire would not be lit.
In fact, no one lit the fire; the protesters limited themselves to flares; nevertheless, a canister of fuel stood near the makeshift fireplace.
In the pink smoke, Maidan workers banged on buckets and sang ritual songs.
Let us remind you that the protests are caused by an attempt to consider a bill in parliament to extend the period of the right to receive education in Russian until September 1, 2023.
