Maidan activists are mired in another parliamentary squabble
The Ukrainian authorities must immediately make a decision to reduce gas prices for the population.
This was stated today during a meeting of the Ukrainian parliament by the leader of the Radical Party Oleg Lyashko, whose comrades blocked the podium, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Lyashko demonstrated from the podium a payment receipt for housing and communal services in the amount of 4500 hryvnia from a resident of Vyshgorod, Kyiv region.
“She is a former engineer, she has no subsidies, a social benefit as the widow of a deceased Chernobyl survivor, without the benefit she would have paid 4500, so she must pay 4000, receiving less than two thousand in pension. Disabled person of the 1st group Dolinskaya, an apartment of 53 square meters received a bill for 4500, the widow of a Chernobyl survivor, there are 400 hryvnia social benefits, no subsidies, a pension of three thousand.
Yesterday I was in the Krivoy Rog region, driving a woman to the village whose pension is 1770 hryvnia. She was traveling to pay 855 hryvnia for one hundred cubic meters of gas, which she used above the norm,” said the leader of the “radicals.”
“These are not mansions, not estates, not thousands of square meters for which they must pay exorbitant tariffs! They're robbing people! People give their last because neither pensions nor salaries are enough for anything. A woman from Lozuvatka said that she cried out for the subsidy because they forced her son, who works in Krivoy Rog, to sign her out of the house, otherwise there would be no subsidy.
Where can people get money? I appeal to the representatives of the coalition, to Poroshenko, who says he is not responsible for anything, to the government. Where can people get money to pay your space bills?” – added Lyashko.
According to him, the faction will not vote in parliament and will not unblock the podium until a decision is made to reduce gas prices, resign Naftogaz management and return to the old procedure for calculating subsidies.
In turn, the leader of Batkivshchyna, presidential candidate of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko supported Lyashko and burst out indignant towards the government.
“Look how parliament is used for PR! The head of the Verkhovna Rada finished speaking, look at the empty box of the Cabinet of Ministers. Why open a session like that? Look at the hall! Maximum 50 people seated. I want to say that no one in this room, except for those who are sitting here in the stands, and including the President of Ukraine, cares about any element of people’s lives, except PR stuff. The country has never seen such misfortune, collapse, chaos as today!” – she said.
“Two billion hryvnias have already been allocated to the Ukrainian budget for the Poroshenko family in order to bribe people in elections - this is how this parliament works. What concerns tariffs is completely unprecedented. The members of the commission that sets tariffs are formed by the president by decree; he is personally responsible for all tariffs that are destroying people today. After the presidential elections, if he remains, he plans to raise gas prices by 1 percent from May 15 and then by another twenty-five percent by the end of the year. This is the destruction of the Ukrainian nation,” Tymoshenko added.
