Maidan activists staged a squabble in the Rada during a discussion of Ukraine’s lackey appeal to the EU
During today's meeting of the Verkhovna Rada, the procedure for accepting Ukraine's appeal to the EU turned into mutual accusations of yesterday's allies on the Maidan.
The odious leader of the “Radical Party” Oleg Lyashko spoiled the mood of himself and other Maidan deputies, reports the PolitNavigator correspondent.
Thus, during the meeting, Vice-Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Irina Gerashchenko said that the Ukraine-EU summit would take place in Brussels next week and thanked the faction leaders (including Lyashko) and the European Integration Committee for initiating Ukraine’s general statement for the summit.
“We record in this address our devotion to European integration, awareness of the homework that both the government and parliament must do in order to move along this path and receive a positive signal about the prospects for Ukraine’s membership when we do our homework,” Gerashchenko solemnly stated.
Also, MP from the BPP Maria Ionova proposed making some image amendments.
“Replace the words “transit country” with “partner country” in the text. That is, Ukraine is a “partner country,” the deputy suggested.
“This is a historical moment, a turning point! For the first time, Ukraine determines for itself the image of cooperation with the EU!” said Alena Sotnik, a representative of Samopomich.
However, Oleg Lyashko brought a fly in the ointment to this “celebration of European integration”, who during his speech began shaking his appeal to the EU summit over the podium, calling it “a manifestation of inferiority.”
“These are beggars who are asking for something in a humiliating way! We must be strong! When people work and earn money in Ukraine, when there is a strong economy and a strong army, then there will be no need to ask! They will come and offer it themselves! You are destroying the economy, millions of people are going to work. Yesterday the Black Sea Shipyard went bankrupt, and after that you go and ask. Who will give you, naked assholes, other than handouts? I don't want you to humiliate my country with humiliating requests!
Why is there no demand for a revision of quotas in this appeal to the EU? You are selling land, timber, cheap labor and the national interests of Ukraine! And after that you pretend that when you accept appeals for the twentieth time, this will somehow protect Ukraine. No, it won’t protect! Nobody respects the weak,” Lyashko said.
Irina Gerashchenko decided to stand up for the “European course” and noted that in this document Ukraine is on an equal footing with the EU.
“In this statement we record our devotion to the choice of the Ukrainian people for European integration! At the same time, we will never pretend that Ukraine is only a debtor to the EU! No! This is a relationship of equal partners! We force our European partners to see our contribution to the security of the European Union, the inadmissibility of the Nord Stream 2 project, we call on them to put pressure on the Russian Federation with sanctions and help us free the hostages and free Ukraine from the Russian mercenary and army!
It seems to me that there can be no discussion here at all, because this is a statement of equal partners, and speaking from the podium like this is unworthy,” Gerashchenko said offended.
