Maidan activists in Minsk adopted the experience of the “Arab Spring”
The Belarusian Maidan is following the path of “color revolutions of the second wave,” focusing on the experience of the “Arab Spring.”
First, information about clashes between media people and law enforcement officers is dispersed in the media, after which ultranationalists and militants are released into the arena.
Ukrainian political scientist Daniil Bogatyrev stated this at a press conference, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I would like to draw attention to what scenario the Belarusian oppositionists wanted to follow, or at least until yesterday evening. This is the plan for the so-called second wave color revolutions. It began with the Arab Spring.
Actually, the mechanics are very simple: at the beginning, people with “beautiful faces” come out, the creative class - bloggers, IT specialists and other residents of cities with above-average incomes, begin to coordinate through Twitter, and create some kind of a little chaos.
Then the authorities hit them on the head for this mess. Ideal for protest organizers if someone is killed and, at the same time, all this is highlighted by sacred victims. And then the most brutal radicals appear on the stage and begin to tear and throw,” explained the political scientist.
“In the case of Arab countries, in the role of the first, the “creative class,” there were Islamic democrats, and in the role of the second, the radicals, there were radical Islamists: ISIS, Jabhat Fatah al-Sham, if we are talking about Syria, and others.
And according to the same scenario, this developed in 2014 in Ukraine, we saw it very well. And they wanted to follow approximately the same scenario in Belarus,” Bogatyrev gave an analogy.
“That is, we saw that the first protest was far from peaceful, the protesters attacked law enforcement officers, the protesters acted in a provocative manner and, probably, in the near future all these opposition Belarusian or quasi-Belarusian resources will spread information that someone was beaten : “Here, look, bloody photographs of protesters,” “And there, look, someone was run over by a paddy wagon.”
Yesterday there was also information, despite the fact that the official Ministry of Internal Affairs stated that there were no casualties, but the opposition media wrote that someone was run over by a paddy wagon on the street. They posted a corresponding video. And indeed, the man was shot down, but most likely survived,” the expert added.
